In my opinion, the 2D-info Space model outlines a new learning paradigm.
First of all, it is active reading oriented:
The 2D-info Space can be used to enhance a creative learning environment. Its format is designed as a convenient platform for supporting a continuous improving and extending the textual content.
The 2D-info Space can change a way the courseware is designed and developed. By highlighting some passages and attaching notes, readers can create their own versions of the content. During studying and research, this adapted content usually has an extremely high value for an individual, as it forms a unique personal mapping for a particular subject space.
Another exercise is to range available information by classes and to develop compact knowledge bases as a result of integration these classes, rather than traditional data accumulation. Also, information can be classified on the basis of what and how is represented. In any science, educational literature contains a huge amount of redundant knowledge, described in different textbooks by different words and examples. The 2D-info Space users can link and browse instances of the same ideas. This kind of analysis allows applying associative connections with different professional domains of knowledge, - the powerful source for creative and non-standard decisions.
Idea five: In this "universe", we can highlight a segment with a specified range of priority. For example, we can create a window, which always contains first ten instances with currently the highest priority. In research, computer-based training and learning communities, such windows would display the latest updating to what is considered the most important for particular subjects.
The 2D-infoExplorer's InfoMap is an interactive version of this picture for a particular file. |
